Day 4 - Tuesday September 28th
The state capital building in Montpelier, VT

Along State Highway 2 in Vermont

Franconia Notch State Park, NH
The
first two pictures I took to show the difference between setting the
camera on full-auto (first picture) and manually setting the shutter
speed to 1 second (second picture).

Sandwich Notch Road, in White Mountain
National Forest, NH
This little known road was
one of the highlights of my trip. It is well off the beaten
path. I probably only saw 5 other cars while I was there.
The one-lane road can be a little treacherous at times. I
wished that I had a truck or SUV, and I certainly wouldn't attempt
it in a car with any less ground clearance than mine. It took
me about an hour and a half to go the distance of the road, about 8
miles. Of course, I stopped to take pictures frequently, so
that slowed me down, but even when I wasn't rubber-necking at the
scenery I still just managed to crawl down the road.
I frequently had this view on the road. I came to the crest of
a hill and couldn't see anything in front of me until I was already
on the way down. This wouldn't normally be that big of a deal,
but the road was full of potholes and I also worried about hitting a
rock or tree stump on the side of the road.

These pictures are great examples of what I wanted to see on my trip
to the northeast. On this week, the leaves were at their peak
in upstate New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.
