Day 8 - Thursday June 2nd

Bryce Canyon National Park, UT - I left Zion National Park Wednesday night and didn't have much of a plan.  So I ended up just driving almost to Bryce Canyon, where I slept in a rest area on a practically deserted road.  It was so cold that I woke up about every hour and turned on the heater for a minute.  Next time, I think I'll at least pack a sleeping bag, which I unfortunately forgot.

Anyway, I was able to get into the park at sunrise.  It was still pretty cold, but between shivers I took some pictures.

Highway 12, UT - I would highly recommend this road between Bryce Canyon and Capital Reef.  Some parts of it are kind of like driving through the Grand Canyon.  Only smaller.

Capital Reef National Park, UT - This one was a little anti-climactic after having seen Bryce Canyon, but it is still pretty and has some cool rock formations.

Arches National Park, UT - Since I got such an early start, I was able to make it to Arches National Park by about 5:00 PM.  That was a good thing, because it was pouring down rain the next morning and the cloud ceiling was well below some of the stuff I wanted to see.

Unfortunately, since I didn't spend the night in a hotel the night before, I forgot to download the pictures off of my camera.  So I went to open my laptop and the battery was dead.  The park rangers at the visitor's center wouldn't let me plug in my laptop for 5 minutes so I could download the pictures.  So I had to leave the park and go back into town (Moab, UT) and check into my hotel just to plug the laptop in.  So let me take this opportunity to say to the friendly and helpful staff at the visitor's center, "Thanks for nothing".

Consequently, I didn't get to stay as long as I wanted, but I still got to see some pretty sites and take some short hikes and climb on some rocks.
