Day 6 - Tuesday May 31th

North of Burbank, CA - After an early start I was on my way north towards Sequoia National Park.

Sequoia National Forest/Monument, CA - I was in Sequoia National Monument, trying to get to the national park, so I stopped to look for a map at a turnoff.  I saw two hikers with a big map, so I thought there must be some around.  It turns out there wasn't one, so I started up the road again.  One of the hikers stuck out a thumb, so I asked them where they were going.  They needed to go to Sequoia National Park, and I needed a map, so it seemed like a match made in heaven.  Meet Mike and Lisa.

Sequoia National Park, CA - On the way to the park, we stopped to look at a map.  A local pulled over to help us, and gave us some excellent directions.  The directions included a suggestion that we stop by a place called The Orange Works, a little restaurant that makes their own orange ice cream.  So we saved thirty minutes from the good directions, got some great ice cream, and Mike and Lisa bought my lunch.  Thanks guys!

It was a great day, and I got to see the largest living thing on earth, and that was pretty darn cool.

The second to the last picture is my best self-portrait of the trip.
